03 Aug “THE FINALS” raises the bar: boom of participants in the main event of the Rental season by TBKART!
The weekend of July 13-14 gave TBKART and IRK Promotion, the new group created to expand the Rental activity of the Italian manufacturer, another organisational success. The Pista South Milano in Ottobiano welcomed more than 100 drivers who competed in “THE FINAL Endurance” and “THE FINAL Sprint”, always driving TBKART Rental Kart Line vehicles.
After making its debut in grand style in 2023, the international final of TBKART’s karting season further consolidated its prominent position in the Rental scene. With the innovative double format presented in Ottobiano on the second weekend of July and animated by over 90 drivers registered for the sprint race (75 in the SK1 class and 16 in the Junior one) and 25 teams registered for the endurance race, the second edition of “THE FINALS” doubled the number of participants registered on its debut. In addition to having a considerable turnout of drivers, the event saw 15 nationalities represented, confirming its international status. These were the ideal conditions to give life to a one-of-a-kind show, “managed” by the highly qualified staff fielded by TBKART and IRK Promotion, the department that organises and promotes a series of first-rate competitions with the products of the Rental Kart Line developed by the Italian company.
The two kart fleets that have been specifically developed for exclusive use in IRK Promotion events and meticulously calibrated for this international final once again proved to live up to expectations. Strengthened by their versatility, the brand new TBKART R-ONE 4-stroke karts completed “THE FINAL Endurance” without a hitch, over an exciting 8-hour race. With the possibility of changing kart only two times, each team had to carefully manage their vehicles throughout the competition and the reliability of TBKART products therefore emerged, also highlighted by the already tested TBKART RMAX 2-stroke karts in “THE FINAL Sprint”. The top-of-the-range model in the TBKART Rental world, which stands out for its high performance, also thanks to its 23 HP Rotax Max 2-stroke engine, expressed all its qualities during a weekend characterised by a Racing format. Taking advantage of an intense series of sessions on the track between practice sessions, qualifying, heats and finals, the participants in the sprint race were able to enjoy an unparalleled total driving time and a real racing experience.
The organisation studied in detail made it possible to respect an intense programme marked by various moments of sharing in addition to the action on the track, including the drivers’ parade, the award ceremonies and the buffet offered to all participants. The sporting and technical regulations applied to ensure maximum fairness, supported by the extremely shrewd race direction staff, also reaffirmed their effectiveness. The balance in the performance of the various vehicles therefore generated a series of close and exciting races. The NAC Team was the team that best performed with the R-ONE (a model designed specifically for endurance races, lightened and enhanced compared to the traditional R25, the reference product of TBKART’s Rental line) to win “THE FINAL Endurance” and secure one of the prestigious prizes provided in the main event of the Rental season by TBKART: free participation in “THE 24”, a 24-hour endurance race that will also take place on the Ottobiano circuit on the weekend of September 7-8. On the other hand, Francisco Alfaro Velasco excelled in the Junior class of “THE FINAL Sprint”, winning an official TBKART clothing kit, while Antoine Morlet triumphed in the overall rankings of the SK1 class and earned free participation in a world-class competition. Morlet will be the successor of Dennis Höller (winner of the Vegas Final in last year’s edition) who will fly to Las Vegas to compete, through the “Arrive & Drive” formula, in the iconic SKUSA SuperNationals as an official TBKART driver.
The second edition of “THE FINALS” ended on an extremely positive note, with good weather and the novelty of the double format that was widely appreciated by the drivers, some of whom participated in both the sprint and endurance races. It’s now time to proceed with the other events of the IRK Promotion season supported by TBKART, always with the aim of shortening the distances between the Racing and Rental worlds, making karting more accessible.
